About Us

ROD RUN

Located on the banks of Lake Atwood, the City of Atwood has always been a tight knit community that enjoys coming together for festivals and events. The Atwood Early Rod Run was started by a group of citizens who loved cars and Americana. Since its inception, the event has grown every year. Each year hundreds of hot rods, customs, and classic cars decend upon Atwood for a weekend festival much more intimate than any car show you have ever attended.

One of the Rod Run events enjoyed by all is Saturday afternoon drag racing on the Rawlins County Airport runway, followed by an evening of beer, and the best hog roast in the region. Not to mention live music at the Columbian Hall right next to beautiful Lake Atwood. Those attending with their cars, called "Rodders", enjoy free entry into all events and get to compete for many trophies and prizes as part of the low entry fee.

Remember those days when you would fill up the tank and cruise circles through town? Many of the Rod Runners camp around the lake and cruise the lake. There is nothing like a weekend at the Rod Run!

THE ATWOOD AMBASSADORS

The Atwood Ambassadors is a group of citizen volunteers committed to making the City of Atwood the best place to live and visit in Northwest Kansas. The Atwood Ambassadors are fully funded by the community and are a non-profit organization that sponsor, staff, fund and organize several events in Atwood to include the Atwood Early Rod Run, the Atwood 4th of July Fireworks display, that is as good a show as you see in a city 10 times the size of Atwood, Christmas displays throughout the city and many other events that raise money and contribute to many causes throughout the year.
